CADENCE

CADENCE (California Advanced Defense Ecosystems & National Consortia Effort) is a program designed to strengthen the resiliency of the national security innovation and manufacturing base through a series of investments in technical assistance, workforce development, research and analysis, and knowledge sharing.

To assist in the implementation of CADENCE, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research awarded a grant to El Camino College to support California’s defense manufacturing ecosystem through training and workforce development.

With this grant, El Camino College will support small businesses in the California defense industrial base to adopt Smart Manufacturing technologies and methodologies with the following services:

  • Webinars and workshops that help showcase the value and benefits of adopting Smart Manufacturing
  • Customized training solutions to upskill existing defense workers in areas like 5G, AI and other transformative Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Physical demonstrations to show best practices in SM hardware/software at locations in Santa Clara and Torrance, CA
  • A referral program for hardware/software vendors and technical assistance providers

El Camino College was awarded the grant because of its expertise in Smart Manufacturing, which is defined as “the fully integrated, collaborative manufacturing systems that respond in real time to meet changing demands and conditions in the smart factory, in the supply network, and in customer needs.”

Cal Poly Extended Education

Cal Poly Extended Education will work with the Cal Poly California Cybersecurity Institute (CCI) to pilot an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training Program with two California Community Colleges: El Camino College and College of the Canyons
